A better way to find suitable programs & schols for aspiring students want to go abroad for higher education.
RootOn has thousands of students coming to them to get help for abroad education. These students are having a variety of educational backgrounds, financial situations, competitive exam scores etc. Each individual student needs to be attended and served uniquely. Number of programs in multiple schools have different acceptance criteria along with application deadlines. Until now, the team of agents at RootOn used to keep all details about programs & schools in excel sheets. Everytime there is a need to find programs, agents will go over a gigantic excel sheet and try to find a few programs suitable for a particular student. After doing that, agents will send shortlisted programs via email and students will pick a couple of them from the shortlist.
After that, the student will send over documents to the agent and the agent will apply to programs on behalf of the student. This whole process is very tedious and error prone especially when one agent serves many students at the same time.
RootOn Founder and CEO, Ronak Patel, came to us to develop a solution to optimize the process. The goal of the solution is to easily find various programs by having multiple filters while searching. Also, the solution has to have the ability to prepare a shortlist for students and one common view between student and agent, so the application process becomes streamline. Once the shortlist is finalized, students can upload/attach documents directly and agents can access and review them quickly.
WEB APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
“Had an opportunity to work with blobstation team on a project which we started from scratch. We have done lot of productive discussions during development stages to build a product which makes our business grow.”

A web application to streamline the process starting from finding the right program to get admit into the school
The Blobstation team took this opportunity to develop a solution for Root On. A solution which enables Root On to serve as many students as possible. Our goal was to provide a solution which not only helps RootOn to find suitable programs faster but also ability to manage students profiles and documents at ease.
We came up with three different types of user roles for this portal. 1. Students 2. Agents 3. Administrators. Each user has been authorized to specific modules/views. One common view for all three users types is search the program. This search screen is the heart of the application, users can search for programs by applying many filters such as tuition fees, required score, intake, application deadline, province/state, campus etc. Also users can directly shortlist the program on just one click.
Students have the ability to append documents inside the portal. Administrator user type has ability to manage programs, students, agents, schools etc. Any changes made by the administrator are directly reflected into the portal for students and agents.
Blobstation has followed Agile development methodology. Daily scrum meetings to discuss things which are done, in progress and blocker if any. Also weekly sprint meetings to decide on upcoming week’s scope. Tech lead also presented a demo every end of the sprint to give the progress report and collect early feedback.
Rooton web portal project started with UI/UX for the first 3 weeks. One dedicated designer worked very closely with Rooton representative to work on flow. In parallel, two backend developers started building the foundation for project core logic. Two frontend developers worked in sync with backend developers to integrate proposed UI/UX. One project manager used to keep track of tasks and time taken to complete them.
Blobstation has proposed a Time & Material engagement model with resources allocated based on needs. Each resource has been given specific tasks with a timeline attached to it.
The whole project developed in 2 months after finalizing the requirements. It took 4 brainstorming sessions to translate idea on paper and then after divided whole implementation in phases.
” Rooton wants to use this application for immigration clients as well. These clients are different from students and in this case, the main focus would be client profile and document management. Business Analytics team at Blobstation already working on next phase requirements.”
